Job Summary:

As an Architect in the Data Engineering organization at JioHotstar, you will define and drive the long-term technical vision for our data platform and infrastructure. You will lead the design of scalable, reliable, and high-performance data systems that power analytics, machine learning, experimentation, and business decision-making at massive scale.

In this role, you will partner closely with engineering, product, marketing, and executive stakeholders to translate complex technical possibilities into measurable business outcomes. You will play a critical role in shaping architecture, improving operational excellence, and enabling teams to build resilient, future-ready systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Define and evolve the long-term architecture and technical strategy for data platforms and distributed systems across teams

Build scalable, reliable, and cost-efficient data infrastructure to support analytics, ML, and operational workloads

Drive operational excellence by improving system reliability, observability, scalability, and efficiency

Ensure high standards in architecture, system design, code quality, and engineering best practices

Simplify complex technical challenges into pragmatic, scalable solutions

Create and execute technical roadmaps aligned with business and organizational goals

Understand system dependencies, trade-offs, and limitations to guide strategic decision-making

Lead the design and delivery of mission-critical systems and platform capabilities

Influence engineering teams through technical leadership, architectural reviews, and hands-on problem-solving

Mentor engineers and technical leaders, fostering engineering growth and strong technical culture

Encourage experimentation and rapid prototyping to accelerate innovation and reduce ambiguity

SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES FOR SUCCESS:

Proven experience architecting and scaling large-scale distributed systems and data platforms

Strong ownership mindset with a track record of leading critical initiatives from conception to production

Excellent business acumen and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to align technical decisions to business impact

Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities with a bias toward simplicity and execution

Deep expertise in software engineering fundamentals, system design, and performance optimization

Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, distributed computing, and modern backend technologies

Experience building high-throughput, low-latency, and highly available systems

Ability to mentor and influence teams while fostering a collaborative and inclusive engineering culture

Comfortable operating in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with evolving priorities

Growth-oriented mindset with a passion for learning, innovation, and engineering excellence

Preferred education and experience:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field

10+ years of experience in software engineering, with significant experience in backend and data engineering systems

Experience working with large-scale data ecosystems, cloud-native architectures, and modern data infrastructure technologies is preferred
