Role summary

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Backend Developer to lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable, high-quality backend systems. In this role, you will drive technical architecture, mentor teammates and collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to deliver robust solutions.

You’ll champion engineering best practices, proactively identify areas for improvement and lead efforts to ensure system reliability, performance and a seamless customer experience.

Hybrid- Full-time

What you’ll do

Design and implement robust, scalable, and maintainable backend solutions for complex scenarios, ensuring high-quality results that may be consumed by other teams.
Collaborate effectively within your team and with cross-functional partners, such as Product, Design/UX, DevOps, and other R&D teams, representing your team as needed.
Maintain and improve the team's engineering practices, suggesting and implementing technology, patterns, or process enhancements.
You will play a key part in migrating legacy systems to modern, cloud-native architectures, driving technical excellence, and mentoring teammates.
Support system and data migrations, ensuring minimal disruption, backward compatibility, and performance optimization.
Proactively identify areas of improvement in team systems, processes, and scalability.
Lead by example in code quality, contributing significantly to code reviews and acting as a focal point for engineering excellence questions.
Help monitor production systems, investigate potential issues, and lead efforts to resolve critical production challenges while maintaining a customer-centric approach.

Who you are

6+ years in backend software engineering roles, with demonstrated ability to navigate technical trade-offs and ambiguity effectively.
Proficiency in C#, Java, or similar object-oriented languages.
Proven experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems.
Hands-on knowledge of relational databases like SQL Server.
Experience with message queues or streaming platforms (e.g., RabbitMQ, SQS, Kafka).
Exposure to legacy system modernization or platform migration projects is highly valued.
Strong experience writing unit tests and ensuring high test coverage.
Strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
Experience with microservices architecture.
Experience in designing new functionality for existing complex components while maintaining scalability and performance.
Ability to collaborate effectively and communicate technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
BA/BSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.

What could set you apart

Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, especially in migration or modernization contexts.
Practical experience with Agile development methodologies.
Familiarity with non-relational databases such as MongoDB.
Exposure to AI/ML concepts, AI-enabled APIs, or building backend services that support intelligent features.
Experience mentoring engineers and supporting technical growth within the team.
