Industry: Cookware & Kitchenware Manufacturing

We are looking for a hands-on QC Engineer — Production (Sheet Metal) to manage day-to-day quality control activities across incoming materials, in-process manufacturing, and final product inspection.

The role involves working directly on the shop floor to inspect, measure, approve, document, and improve product quality. You will also contribute to strengthening the plant's quality systems by developing inspection formats, SOPs, sampling plans, rejection analysis, and corrective action processes.

This is a hands-on production quality role for an engineer who is comfortable working closely with operators, production teams, and plant leadership.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

QC System & Process Improvement

  • Develop and implement inspection checklists, SOPs, quality formats, and daily QC reporting systems.
  • Establish appropriate AQL sampling plans for incoming, in-process, and final inspections.
  • Maintain inspection standards and ensure consistent quality practices across production processes.
  • Identify recurring quality issues and recommend improvements to reduce rejection, rework, and scrap.

Incoming Material Inspection

  • Inspect stainless steel coils and sheets, including SS 304, SS 430, and tri-ply materials.
  • Verify material thickness, grade, dimensions, surface quality, and other specifications.
  • Ensure incoming materials meet defined quality standards before being released for production.
  • Document inspection results and report non-conforming materials.

In-Process Quality Control

  • Conduct first-piece and setup approvals before production runs.
  • Perform quality inspections during deep drawing, stamping, trimming, welding, and other sheet metal operations.
  • Identify defects such as cracks, thinning, wrinkles, dimensional deviations, misalignment, and deformation.
  • Work closely with production teams to identify and resolve quality issues at the source.

Final Product Inspection

  • Inspect finished products for dimensional accuracy, workmanship, and surface quality.
  • Evaluate mirror and satin polish finishes.
  • Check product bottom flatness and suitability for induction applications.
  • Perform handle strength checks and leak testing where applicable.
  • Conduct final batch inspections and ensure products meet defined specifications before dispatch.

Defect Management & CAPA

  • Identify, segregate, and document non-conforming materials and products.
  • Prepare daily rejection and quality reports.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis for recurring defects in collaboration with Production teams.
  • Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to reduce rejection rates and improve process quality.
  • Track corrective actions through to closure and verify their effectiveness.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain daily inspection records, quality logs, rejection reports, and other QC documentation.
  • Conduct and document final batch sampling in accordance with applicable AQL requirements.
  • Support quality processes aligned with ISO 9001 standards.
  • Ensure traceability and accuracy of quality records across production stages.

Requirements

Must-Have Skills

  • 3–6 years of hands-on experience in Quality / Quality Control within a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 3 years of practical QC experience in sheet metal, stainless steel, cookware, kitchenware, metalware, or a similar industry.
  • Strong understanding of production quality control processes.
  • Hands-on experience with vernier calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection instruments.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing processes and common production defects.
  • Understanding of deep drawing, stamping, trimming, welding, and related manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to perform first-piece inspection, in-process inspection, and final product inspection.
  • Experience preparing rejection reports, inspection records, and quality documentation.
  • Working knowledge of AQL sampling, root-cause analysis, and CAPA.

Good-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with Sheet Metal Components and stainless steel products.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management systems.
  • Experience in cookware or kitchenware manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with dimensional inspection and surface-finish evaluation.
  • Knowledge of basic quality tools such as 5 Why, Fishbone Analysis, Pareto Analysis, and Control Plans.
  • Experience working with production teams to reduce rejection and improve manufacturing processes.

Educational Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related discipline.
  • Candidates with strong hands-on manufacturing QC experience may also be considered based on relevant expertise.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Currently working as a QC Engineer, Quality Engineer, or Senior QC Inspector in a manufacturing environment.
  • Comfortable working directly on the shop floor rather than operating primarily from a desk.
  • Has personally performed first-piece approvals, measurements, inspections, and rejection analysis.
  • Has experience working within a structured QC system involving inspection formats, registers, AQL sampling, and CAPA.
  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail and a practical approach to quality problem-solving.

Location

Candidates based in or around Umargaon, Sarigam, Vapi, Daman, or Valsad are strongly preferred. Candidates willing to relocate to the Umargaon/Sarigam area may also be considered.

Key indicators will include inspection accuracy, first-piece approval effectiveness, reduction in recurring defects, timely closure of CAPA actions, adherence to AQL standards, quality documentation accuracy, and overall improvement in production quality.
