Job description

Overview

Esri is the world leader in geographic information systems (GIS) and developer of ArcGIS, the leading mapping and analytics software used in 75 percent of Fortune 500 companies. At Esri, we believe in helping our customers take on challenging geospatial problems and making a difference in the world. Join our team of talented and passionate engineers and help us build the next generation of ArcGIS Enterprise, a suite of products delivering state-of-the-art geospatial capability to thousands of our customers and millions of users worldwide. Our team builds cutting-edge, highly scalable, and reliable distributed software for on-premises and the cloud. We make maps, geographic information, and analyses available on any device, anywhere, at any time.

Software Reliability Engineers are responsible for ensuring that the ArcGIS Enterprise product is reliable, highly available, and has powerful disaster recovery features. They do this by gathering user requirements, defining them for the team, evaluating the product, and guiding users through documentation, videos, and presentations.

Responsibilities

  • Support Esri's strong user-focus by gathering software reliability and availability requirements
  • Collect requirements directly from users and indirectly from Esri staff in Support and Professional Services
  • Collaborate and influence decisions within and across teams because reliability features and requirements cut across all functionalities

  • Communicate effectively with our users through written documentation as well as presentations

Requirements

  • 2-6 years in a position with operational responsibilities, such as monitoring, maintaining, and deploying enterprise software
  • Experience in software testing
  • Fundamental understanding of web services, such as REST
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills in a complex backend-server stack
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science and applications, math, GIS, geography, or related field
  • Existing work authorization for India

Recommended Qualifications

  • Master's degree in engineering, computer science and applications, math, GIS, geography, or related field
  • Experience administering ArcGIS Enterprise
  • Experience working directly on a software development team
